We are mindful of the official period of mourning in place in the next week in the United Kingdom and the sorrow being expressed not only across the country but also around the world. We are aware that some national medical meetings and official functions taking place in the next week have been cancelled. However, after lengthy consideration we have decided that the annual meeting in Bristol should go ahead next week, albeit in a sombre and respectful manner.
A minutes silence will be held at the start of the meeting on Thursday.

Due to a raw material shortage, production of the entire range of Smiths Bivona® paediatric tracheostomy products has been temporarily paused. The current stock position is critical on several product lines, with low levels on many other sizes. This supply disruption is likely to continue to affect systems for at least several weeks to months. It is important that affected families and their carers are engaged with and involved in any clinical decisions taken as a result of this issue.
